When Jon heard the news that the Supreme Court had ruled California’s Proposition 8 unconstitutional, he got down on one knee and proposed to Triton at Disneyland with their two daughters looking on. We were honored and excited to be a part of their wedding vision of a chic bazaar, with different culinary stations from around the world to create a street fair ambiance. We couldn’t wait to get started. We designed each space in the style of the food being served. For the sushi spot, we hung Japanese lanterns. For the African food, we styled the space with layers of mud cloth. We tied everything together with centerpieces, dining lounges, table seating, and a pashmina bar for their wedding favors. One of our favorite aspects was the 20-ft custom bar we created, complete with lanterns and painted canvas. It was also important to the couple that we create a special area for kids. We styled two teepees complete with games and activities as well as had face painting artists to be sure to include the children in the festivities. Because of the event space’s time limitations, the setup timeframe was super tight, but we prepacked creatively and did as much work as we could beforehand and actually finished early. Ultimately, Jon and Triton’s celebration was as beautiful as their love story.
